Cuccina Italiana
Buona sera, signor Paolo!
The occasion: Sasha’s (Dimitri’s wife) birthday. Contemplating whether Cucina Italiana would live up to our expectations from our first visit, we decided to invite her clan of friends across to this small restaurant in Parkmore. We weren’t disappointed. The authenticity of the restaurant created by its décor, reasonably priced food and atmosphere is complemented by the charm, character and voice of the owner, Paolo (and a lot of good, cheap Italian wine!)
This is the best place to go if you don’t feel like deciding what to eat – since Paolo will voluntarily decide for you! The bresaola’s always a good starter and for mains, our favourites are the prawn pasta and the gnocchi with your preference of sauce. Paolo insists that all his pastas are fresh & home made.
We never got round to desert, but always managed one or two espresso coretto’s (espresso with grappa). Add a few Amaro Montenegro’s, a great tasting digestive, and you’ll be singing “Buona Sera, Signiorina” and “O Sole Mio” with Paolo!
Make sure you book over weekends for a table in the evening, since it’s normally full and not the biggest restaurant. For more details, check out http://www.yourtastebuds.com/
Until we eat again.
