Roots

Back to our roots

Roots is situated on a game farm that is home to the Forum Homini boutique hotel, about an hours drive from Jo'burg. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, as is the food. Roots is an experience of note - the only thing you’ll need is good company, a good appetite and unrushed time...

The 6-course set menu served on Sundays (accompanied by live jazz) changes weekly, with many ingredients being sourced from the local game farm. We recommend the accompanying wine "teasers" - a fair measure of good wines that complement each dish, passionately explained by Philippe, the chef patron.
We started off with a crocodile pate, served with olive marmalade & foie gras. Next was the delicious seared salmon with asparagas, hollandaise sauce & pesto. Definitely one of the best courses of the day! Another favourite was the duck, served with watercress, basil & topped with a tempura prawn. A taste sensation. The presentation of each course and the portion size is just right.

The meal was completed by three average deserts. Don't leave without enjoying a café & cigar. The coffee comes with the best biscotti & nougat...

Until we eat again,

Your taste buds,

Dimitrion
