You often hear people say they’re on a “see food diet” – when they see food, they eat it!
Well, DimitrIon decided to take the saying to heart and stomach, and find out where the best place was for irresistible sea food with a view to match. Inspired by Ion’s adventures in Vancouver and a sample of some great spots along the beach front, we decided to share a few of our favorite restaurants that can keep you intoxicated for hours with their quality fish dishes & seafront sights.

Our top pick in Vancouver is the deck at the Boathouse, located in English Bay with the best oceanfront and people views in town. The seafood dishes are really good, especially the unique smoked salmon, spinach and artichoke dip, their prawns and the yummy Cajun style seared salmon. They also make the best mojito’s we’ve tasted in Vancouver so far.
In Cyprus, our obvious pick is Demetrion – not only does it have a relaxed atmosphere, great fresh sea food and a spectacular setting – it has THE BEST name as well!

Back in SA, the challenge took us beyond the Ocean Basket overlooking the Boksburg Lake (not sure if that actually exists) to SA’s beautiful coastline. Some of the most notable spots for us are the classic Blues in Camps Bay, traditional fish and chips in Hout Bay, the Oyster Company in Knysna and Al Mare in East London, which serves the freshest fish and is located literally above the waves crashing on the rocks.
Then there’s always the more rustic options of dining in many of our many coastal National Parks, where the settings are truly majestic. The view from the Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point is unbeatable!
